We are reimagining career readiness in Boston.

Our goal is to create clear pathways to success for Boston youth.

By helping schools build capacity for career and academic planning, we create a more equitable system that inspires and empowers students to make informed decisions about their future.

10 hours dedicated to career exploration changes everything.

When we partner with a school, we aim to provide every child with a minimum of 10 hours of time dedicated to post-secondary planning.

Just ask our students. And their parents. And their teachers.

We love data. In education, qualitative metrics are just as important as quantitative ones, so we capture both. One Bead collects qualitative data through student, teacher, and parent/guardian surveys. Examples of each key metric are provided below.

  • 85% of teachers said student engagement in school increased as a direct result of programming.

  • 91% of students said they learned something new from the leaders they met.

  • 89% of parents reported that One Bead sparked meaningful conversations at home about their child’s aspirations & goals.

  • 100% of teachers said One Bead’s approach to leadership development is culturally affirming.

Or better yet, see for yourself.

Our Vision

Our long-term objective is to ensure every child in Boston has access to opportunities for career and academic planning before 9th grade. We believe there is a cost-effective to do this that involves leveraging existing resources in schools and their surrounding communities.

“Donating to One Bead is one of the best investments we make in the community.”

Dahiana Duarte Pena, Eastern Bank Employee & Former One Bead Board Chair

“I really enjoy having leaders come in because students learn more and engage more. I also learn more about my students during the Q&As.”

Heidi Achour, Boston Public School Teacher

“One Bead helped my daughter to feel confident in herself. It also helped her to have a vision of the future and to want to be a community leader.”
